The Senior UX Architect plays a central role in shaping and delivering user experiences that are intuitive, inclusive, and aligned to both customer needs and business goals. Reporting into the Senior UX Manager, this role is responsible for managing the end-to-end UX design process across key digital journeys, translating insight and requirements into user-centered design solutions that improve the customer experience, and drive value to the business.
As a champion of best-practice design and customer-led thinking, the Senior UX Architect works closely with cross-functional teams across digital, product, content, and development to ensure experiences are consistent, effective, and continually optimised. The role combines delivering hands-on UX methods with design oversight and mentoring, helping to drive quality, consistency, and innovation across everything we create.
The Senior UX Arhictect also supports the wider UX leadership team by contributing to team planning, design standards, and the evolution of our UX maturity, making this a key role in elevating our overall
customer experience.
Role overview:
- Own the end-to-end UX design process across specific digital journeys—translating insight,business requirements, and customer needs into effective, user-centred solutions.
- Create and deliver UX outputs such as journey maps, wireframes, prototypes, and interaction designs, ensuring solutions are intuitive, inclusive, and accessible.
- Collaborate closely with squads, product managers, UI designers, developers, content designers and analysts to shape experiences from concept to delivery.
- Use qualitative and quantitative data (e.g. user research, customer feedback, analytics) to inform and validate design decisions.
- Ensure UX best practices, design principles, and accessibility standards are consistently applied across your work.
- Present and communicate design ideas and rationale clearly to stakeholders, advocating for customer needs and user-first thinking.
- Support usability testing and continuous optimisation of digital experiences through iteration, A/B testing, and performance analysis.
- Mentor and guide junior UX designers where appropriate, providing feedback and helping build capability within the team.
- Contribute to the wider UX function—supporting with planning, ways of working, and the development of a strong design culture.
Skills required:
- Expert knowledge of user experience (UX) design with a strong understanding of User Centred Design (UCD).
- Information architecture (IA)
- Experienced with different user research and testing methodologies, quant and qual, face-to-face and remote
- Visual design (UI)
- Interaction design (IxD)
- Power user of relevant wireframing, visual design and prototyping tools (e.g., Axure, Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, InVision, etc.).
- Ability to confidently use analytics and insights to support design decisions
Experience required:
- Relevant 3+ years UX design experience
- Portfolio demonstrating your UX process and how it resulted in products that people love
- Setting design principles and best practices
- Solid understanding of accessibility best practices
- Designing within brand style guides and design principles
- App design (beneficial)
- Ecommerce design (beneficial)
- Working understanding of Front-End Development
- Agile and lean methodologies
Competencies:
- Highly articulate with the ability to story tell, pitch and influence design rationale in a languageappropriate for your audience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Stakeholder management at all levels and cross functionally
- Determined, motivated and curious to learn with a passion for design thinking and emerging UX trends
- Coaching and design direction
- Able to manage time, workload and multi-task under pressure
- Experience working to strict deadlines and on different projects over a period of time
