Role overview:

Product Owner - iD Mobile App
London
Currys London Campus at Waterloo
Permanent
Full Time
Grade 4

We’re iD Mobile, one of the UK’s leading mobile virtual network operators. We launched in May 2015 and now have over 2.6 million Pay Monthly subscribers. We’re pretty sure our success has a lot to do with our wide range of feature-packed plans. We offer everything from super-value SIM-only deals, right up to the latest smartphones from the big-name manufacturers. We’re delighted about our success so far and have ambitious plans for the future.

iD Mobile is an exciting place to work. We’re a relatively young and dynamic start-up, and we value innovation, imagination, and creativity. If you’ve got a great idea, we’ll help you run with it. We’re passionate about finding new ways to address our customers’ needs. We’re a little different to other start-ups, though, because we’re part of Currys PLC, Europe's leading electrical and mobile retailer. So, while iD Mobile has only been going for a few years, we’re part of a much bigger family.

As Product Owner for the iD Mobile app, you’ll own improvements to defined customer journeys across iOS and Android. You’ll take changes from identifying a customer problem through to launch, then measure the results and use what you learn to make further improvements.

Reporting to the Senior Digital Product Manager, App, you’ll use customer insight, app data and business priorities to shape and prioritise the backlog. You’ll make clear recommendations, challenge requests where needed, and balance customer value, business benefit, delivery effort and risk.

You’ll work directly with designers, developers, testers, teams across the business and external delivery partners to turn priorities into simple, reliable and accessible app experiences. Success means helping more customers complete tasks through the app, reducing avoidable support needs and improving customer satisfaction.

Role overview:

As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Own and prioritise the iD Mobile App backlog for defined app journeys, balancing customer needs, business value, delivery effort and risk.
  • Use customer insight, app data and operational feedback to identify opportunities and recommend improvements.
  • Lead app changes from identifying the problem through to testing, launch and ongoing improvement.
  • Write clear user stories, acceptance criteria and user flows so delivery teams understand what is needed.
  • Work directly with designers, developers, testers and external partners to agree solutions, resolve issues and deliver reliable app changes across iOS and Android.
  • Support roadmap planning and work with stakeholders across iD Mobile and Currys to agree priorities, challenge requests and manage dependencies.
  • Define success measures and review results after launch, including journey completion, customer satisfaction, avoidable support contacts and app performance.
  • Make sure app changes meet accessibility, security, privacy and applicable regulatory requirements, working with specialist teams where needed.

You will need:

  • Experience owning and improving customer-facing mobile app journeys, from identifying a problem through to launch and measuring results.
  • Ability to use customer insight and product data to identify opportunities, prioritise work and assess whether a change has worked.
  • Experience managing a product backlog and writing clear user stories, acceptance criteria and user flows.
  • Experience working in agile teams with designers, developers and testers, ideally including external delivery partners.
  • Practical understanding of iOS and Android app delivery, including testing, releases and dependencies on other systems.
  • Good communication and stakeholder skills, with the confidence to challenge requests, explain trade-offs and agree priorities.
  • Experience in mobile telecommunications, subscription services or customer self-service products is useful, but not essential.

We know our people are the secret to our success. That’s why we’re always looking for ways to reward great work. You’ll find a host of benefits designed to work for you, including:

  • Holiday benefits - 25 days of annual leave (plus bank holiday entitlement)
  • Private medical insurance
  • Life Assurance
  • Competitive pension scheme
  • Access to discretionary bonus
  • Hybrid working; our primary Currys Campus is at Waterloo (WeWork)
