The Pricing Analyst is responsible for supporting the day-to-day delivery of Base and Promotional pricing activity, ensuring we hold a strong, well-understood competitive position. Acting as a trusted pricing consultant, the Pricing Analyst works closely with our Buying, Merchandising and Go to Market teams to embed and drive adherence to our pricing strategy.

Candidates with knowledge or experience gained in Retail, E-Commerce or Consumer Electronics environments would be particularly well suited to this role. We view this role as being an excellent transition for someone who is either analytical looking to learn more about applying analytical work in a commercial way or for someone who is commercial looking to develop their analytical skills to complement their commercial experience.

There are no direct reports to this position; however, leading and supporting colleagues and key stakeholders through influence is encouraged. The Pricing Analyst, will have frequent interaction with the Senior Marketing, Buying and Merchandising teams to deliver high quality analysis

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Track our competitive price position (CPI) across categories, giving Buying and category teams clear, actionable visibility of where we stand and where action may be needed
  • Recommend Base price changes that keep us competitive, working with Buying teams to agree the right approach and see it through to execution
  • Working with our external partners, help develop and improve our product mapping processes and validation – acting as the voice of the customer in this area
  • Support the smooth running of Promotional pricing activity, working with Buying teams to understand and resolve any gaps in compliance against strategy
  • Bring a commercial lens to pricing questions, using scenario analysis to support day-to-day decisions and knowing when to bring in the wider team for bigger trade-off or optimisation work
  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Buying population, building relationships that encourage and embed adherence to the pricing strategy
  • Help colleagues get the most from our pricing systems and processes, supporting and training users as new ways of working are introduced
  • Keep pricing activity running smoothly day to day, making sure teams have what they need from our reporting and systems
  • Bring AI into everyday ways of working, using it to speed up reporting and analysis and free up more time for commercial conversations with stakeholders
  • Seek out opportunities to engage with teams to undertake pricing automation trials that support the wider pricing strategy

 

Applying Knowledge

  • Strategic Review
  • Identify specific levers, market and competitive trends that drive our performance now and in the future, develop and assess strategic options and help align the management team around a shared strategic intent

 

Pricing and Commercial Strategy

  • Supporting the identification and implementation of opportunities to optimise Base and Promotional pricing to maximise profit

 

Performance reporting and identification

  • Identify underlying trends and performance impacts across CPI position, promotional compliance and pricing activity, sharing insight to inform better decision-making

 

Working With Others

  • Build strong working relationships with Buying, Merchandising and Go to Market teams, supporting and encouraging adherence to the pricing strategy. Work with the wider team to anticipate and identify risks and escalate issues as appropriate


Required Skills & Experience:

  • Ability to find analyse and triangulate all sources of data available
  • Ability to analyse complex problems and deliver insightful and practical solutions
  • Ability to communicate insight in a clear, concise manner both verbal and in writing
  • Exquisite attention to detail to ensure zero defect in analysis, questioning outputs from a commercial lens
  • Self-starter with initiative, drive and tenacity
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Ability to manage multiple resources to a tight project deadline
  • Strong academic record including a bachelors degree in a numerate subject, OR relevant head office merchandising / commercial experience
  • Advanced expertise in Excel and the wider Microsoft stack (e.g. PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Desirable: SQL coding, Databricks and BI / visualisation platforms, including AI-powered dashboards
  • Experience with pricing SaaS / software applications
  • Experience with impact modelling and price optimisation
  • Prior experience with sales-to-margin trade-off analysis
