Role overview:
Head of Stores Central Operations
Field Based (UK)
Permanent
Full Time
Grade 6 Competitive salary plus benefits
At Currys we’re united by one passion: to help everyone enjoy amazing technology. As the UK’s best-known retailer of tech, we’re proud of the service our customers receive – and it’s all down to our team of 25,000 caring and committed colleagues. Working as one team, we learn and grow together, celebrating the big and small moments that make every day amazing.
You'll lead the Stores Central Operations function, reporting directly to the Stores Director with a clear mandate: making store operations genuinely simpler. We're the engine room of the Stores function; making sure everything that reaches stores is well-designed, well-timed and easy to land. We own the colleague voice within the central function, and we use technology and process improvement to keep raising the bar on how stores work. We're obsessed with simplicity, and we measure our success by how much easier we make the working day for colleagues.
You'll work across every central function that generates operational activity for stores, making sure nothing lands without being retail-ready first. You'll partner with the Head of UK Stores on the colleague voice agenda, using real feedback from store managers to shape how central decisions get made. Working across functions including L&D and Technology teams, you'll make sure colleagues have the right tools, the right information and the right capacity to focus on serving customers.
Role overview:
All the amazing things you'll do:
• Lead the simplification of the operational experience for stores, stripping out unnecessary complexity and protecting colleague time to sell and serve.
• Own the Stores ‘One Plan’ as the single governance mechanism for all activity landing in stores, making sure everything is sequenced, prioritised and retail-ready; and that cost reduction is built in throughout.
• Run the colleague communications function for Stores, keeping store managers well-informed and making sure operational decisions land clearly and consistently.
• Actively capture and act on feedback from store managers and colleagues, making sure the real experience of stores shapes every central decision.
• Own the governance of the LIFE selling framework as an operational process, making sure it's consistently embedded and evolves as the commercial agenda requires.
• Manage Workforce Management and capacity planning so colleagues are in the right place at the right time, every day.
• Lead cost reduction programmes including Right First Time and One Best Way, building a genuine culture of continuous improvement across the estate.
• Oversee systems testing and development, making sure new tools and technology work in the real world before they reach stores.
You'll bring:
• Deep knowledge of frontline retail store operations and what drives success
• Proven ability to design and run governance frameworks across large-scale operational change
• Confidence to challenge and reshape central activity before it reaches stores
• Track record of simplifying operations and reducing costs in retail environments
• Experience leading product and programme delivery to drive continuous improvement
• Strong communication skills that make complex decisions clear and actionable for store teams
• Analytical thinking that identifies systemic issues and scales improvement programmes
• Comfort with AI and digital transformation to step-change store operations
Essential:
• Significant senior retail operations leadership experience across a large multi-site estate
• Proven background in operational governance, programme management or process improvement at scale
