We’re looking for a Sustainable Operations Manager to join our Supply Chain function, playing a central role within our Home Delivery & Logistics team.
As the UK’s number one retailer for collecting and recycling electrical waste, sustainability sits at the heart of everything we do. Our recycling and re-use operations not only minimise environmental impact but also differentiate Currys in the market, creating a genuine competitive advantage. In this role, you’ll combine operational expertise with innovative thinking to drive sustainable practices across our network working closely with our local sites (known as Customer Service Centres or CSCs) to embed environmental best practice, while building strong partnerships with DHL, recycling providers, and key internal stakeholders to deliver impactful, joined-up sustainability strategies.
This is a field-based role with regular travel across the UK and ROI (approximately 1–2 times per week), and a company car will be provided.
Role overview:
As part of this role, you’ll be responsible for:
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with Customer Service Centres (CSCs), ensuring consistent compliance with environmental standards and driving operational excellence.
- Owning and leading the commercial and operational partnerships with DHL and recycling providers, maximising revenue through raw material recovery and evidence value.
- Overseeing end-to-end waste and recycling operations across the UK & ROI, including batteries, cartridges, WEEE (small and large), TVs, hazardous and confidential waste, and packaging streams.
- Developing and delivering innovative sustainability initiatives that reduce environmental impact and enhance operational efficiency.
- Championing the integration of sustainable practices across the supply chain, supporting operations, logistics, and product lifecycle improvements.
- Playing a key and visible role in delivering strategic sustainability projects, contributing to the wider business sustainability agenda.
You will need:
- Experience operating in a similar role within a large-scale, multi-site environment.
- Proven background in sustainability operations, waste management, or complex logistics.
- Strong knowledge of environmental compliance standards, legislation, and audit processes.
- Commercially and operationally astute, ideally with experience in a complex supply chain setting.
- Demonstratable ability to build strong relationships and effectively influence stakeholders at all levels.
- Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to engage and influence both internal and external audiences.
- A genuine passion for sustainability, colleagues, and customers, with a strong commitment to doing the right thing.
