This role joins the existing supplier management team, which is responsible for developing and driving best practice in supplier management strategy, working closely with the category teams to support in negotiations, whilst coordinating and co-leading new supplier initiatives across regions.

This role will be essential in day-to-day the management of our new supplier management programme, supporting in delivering new initiatives aimed to grow commercial margin and enhance our position within the market. It will also play a key role in several of the projects, through analysis of a wide range of data sources to extract insights on current performance and new opportunities.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

The role will provide day-to-day support in supplier engagement and implementing new initiatives, by:

  • Carrying out data analysis and collation from a range of internal and external sources, ensuring necessary input alignment and datapoint accuracy
  • Over-seeing project implementation, supporting the wider supplier management team through ongoing operational support and data-led insights
  • Assembling and creating insights which support the category teams in assessing supplier performance and taking commercial action
  • Building relationships with data owners across the Currys organization to improve granularity and accuracy of the data we have and to provide additional sources of insight to the category teams, including input/commodity prices, and external market data
  • Tracking supplier performance in the wider market (e.g. through annual results announcements) and turning into actionable commercial intelligence for the category teams
  • Supporting category teams in preparation for key supplier negotiations, through creation of supporting content including P&L analysis, negotiation pitch packs, and ongoing consistent tracking of input prices
  • Supporting day-to-day implementation of new supplier management initiatives, to help develop the team into a Centre of Excellence for supplier engagement
  • Identifying and driving standardization and efficiency benefits, and supporting in developing a team-wide ‘bank of best practice’ on optimizing supplier engagement and margin
  • Working closely with key business stakeholders across supplier management, category, finance, and marketing teams


This role is expected to operate with a good degree of autonomy on a day-to-day basis. It will also include working closely with the Programme Lead as well as with the wider supplier management team

 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Data Analysis – able to manage, analyse, and evaluate multiple internal data sources, and extract critical information to provide insights
  • Written and Verbal Communication Skills – able to communicate those insights in a clear, concise manner across a range of communication formats, both verbal and written
  • Commercial Acumen – knowledge of the commercial drivers of our business and those of our supply base
  • Excellent collaboration skills - building strong relationships across the wider supplier management team, as well as aligned category teams and other key business partners (e.g. finance)
  • Prioritisation – able to prioritise own workload in a fast-paced environment and good at working under pressure
  • Self-starter – displays initiative and drive, with good organisational skills, to work efficiently across multiple ongoing workstreams and tasks and drive their own professional development
  • Proficient in data analysis and use of analytics tools (e.g. Excel, PowerBI)
  • Experience of operating within a Commercial department in a similar role, preferably at a large organisation
