Role overview:
Senior Procurement Manager
London
Currys London Campus at Waterloo
Permanent
Full Time
Grade 5
At Currys we’re united by one passion: to help everyone enjoy amazing technology. As the UK’s best-known retailer of tech, we’re proud of the service our customers receive – and it’s all down to our team of 25,000 caring and committed colleagues. Working as one team, we learn and grow together, celebrating the big and small moments that make every day amazing.
Technology procurement is about enabling digital transformation, accelerating innovation, and ensuring Currys has access to cutting-edge capabilities including AI, cloud, and data platforms. This role will be at the centre of critical decisions that shape how we compete and serve customers in an AI-driven retail landscape.
The successful candidate will lead strategic technology procurement across Currys, partnering with C-suite and technology leadership to define and execute category strategies that deliver commercial value, supplier innovation, and delivery assurance — with accountability for Currys' most complex, highest-value supplier relationships and transformation programmes.
Role overview:
As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:
- Transformation Programme Leadership - Provide commercial leadership within technology transformation programmes, partnering with the CIO and technology leadership to shape sourcing strategy, evaluate strategic options, manage vendor risk, and ensure procurement accelerates rather than hinders delivery.
- Technology Category Strategy - Architect and own the end-to-end category strategy for technology spend. Translating Currys' digital transformation agenda into sourcing strategies that drive speed, innovation, and cost efficiency at scale.
- Complex Supplier Negotiation - Lead high-stakes, multi-million pound negotiations with global technology vendors, outsource partners, and cloud providers.
- Strategic Outsource Partner Management - Own executive-level relationships with Currys' strategic outsource partners, driving accountability for delivery commitments, SLA compliance, and cost control
- AI & Innovation Agenda - Champion the supplier AI and efficiency agenda
- Executive Stakeholder Partnership - Build trusted advisor relationships with C-suite and senior technology leaders, translating complex commercial concepts and market dynamics into clear strategic recommendations
- Savings & Value Delivery - Own and deliver an ambitious annual savings pipeline across the technology category
- Governance & Commercial Framework - Design and implement performance frameworks, benchmarking mechanisms, and governance structures that ensure supplier accountability, commercial transparency, and continuous value improvement throughout the contract lifecycle.
You will need:
- Senior procurement experience within a FTSE 100/250 or equivalent high-growth technology company
- Proven track record negotiating complex, multi-million pound agreements with major global technology vendors and outsource partners
- Demonstrated delivery of substantial cost savings while maintaining or improving service quality and access to innovation
- Experience managing enterprise technology contracts across cloud, AI/ML platforms, SaaS, outsourcing, and managed services
- Track record of operating successfully at ExCo and C-suite level, influencing strategic decisions with commercial credibility
- Executive presence and influencing skills — ability to challenge and guide senior stakeholders with confidence and commercial insight
- Strategic thinker and able to architect long-term category strategies while closing complex deals simultaneously
- Strong commercial acumen combined with technology fluency
- Exceptional negotiation skills with proven ability to drive commercially advantageous outcomes
- Deep understanding of technology procurement categories: outsourcing, cloud infrastructure, enterprise software licensing, professional services, AI/ML platforms, and telecommunications
- Working knowledge of emerging technology trends — AI, machine learning, automation — and their commercial, contractual, and governance implications
- Degree educated or equivalent in relevant field
- Professional Qualifications (MCIPS) desirable
