We are seeking an experienced Product Information Management (PIM) Technical Specialist with strong solutions architecture expertise to lead the design, implementation, and optimisation of a PIM platform within a retail environment. This role is ideal for someone who has successfully delivered end to end PIM programmes, understands the complexities of retail data ecosystems, and can translate business requirements into scalable, future proof technical solutions.
Role overview:
PIM Delivery & Implementation
- Lead the technical design of PIM solutions across the full project lifecycle - from discovery and design through to configuration, integration, testing, and go live.
- Configure and customise PIM platforms (e.g., Akeneo, Salsify, Pimberly) to meet business and operational requirements.
- Define and oversee the implementation of data models, taxonomy structures, attribute schemas, workflows, and governance frameworks.
- Oversee data migration activities, including mapping, cleansing, enrichment, and validation.
Solutions Architecture (PIM Focused)
- Own the end to end PIM solution, ensuring alignment with enterprise archtiecture, group solution architecture, digital strategy, and retail operational needs.
- Design integration patterns within PIM for downstream system consumption such as eCommerce platforms, ERP, DAM, CMS, and marketplace feeds.
- Produce design artefacts including solution designs, sequence diagrams, integration specifications, and technical roadmaps.
- Evaluate PIM technologies, tools, and frameworks to recommend best fit solutions for scalability, performance, and maintainability.
Stakeholder Engagement & Leadership
- Act as the technical SME for PIM, advising business teams, product owners, and senior stakeholders.
- Collaborate with cross functional teams including digital, merchandising, supply chain, IT, and external vendors.
- Lead technical workshops, discovery sessions, and solution walkthroughs.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to technical teams and implementation partners.
Quality, Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure PIM solutions adhere to best practice data standards, governance policies, and security requirements.
- Establish best practices for product data management, enrichment workflows, and lifecycle processes.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance system performance, usability, and data accuracy.
- Monitor and troubleshoot PIM related issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal business disruption.
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience with delivering Akeneo into a wider enterprise architecture
- Proven experience delivering and implementing PIM solutions within retail or consumer facing industries.
- Strong understanding of product data structures, taxonomy, classification, and enrichment processes.
- Hands on technical experience with one or more leading PIM platforms.
- Solid background in solutions architecture with a focus on data centric and integration heavy systems.
- Expertise in API based integrations, middleware, and data pipelines.
- Strong understanding of retail technology ecosystems (eCommerce, ERP, DAM, PLM, marketplace integrations).
- Ability to translate complex business requirements into clear technical designs.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non technical stakeholders.
