Role overview:

Permanent

Hybrid - London Waterloo

At Currys we’re united by one passion: to help everyone enjoy amazing technology. As the UK’s best-known retailer of tech, we’re proud of the service our customers receive – and it’s all down to our team of 25,000 caring and committed colleagues. Working as one team, we learn and grow together, celebrating the big and small moments that make every day amazing.

You'll sit within the Legal, Governance and Risk team, reporting to the Head of Corporate and Commercial Law. We give the business clear, practical legal advice that helps everyone move forward with confidence. From complex contracts to regulatory change, we stay ahead of what matters and make sure Currys is protected. We're a team that takes pride in being genuinely useful — trusted partners, not just advisers.

You'll work with colleagues right across Currys, from commercial teams covering product categories, credit, insurance, B2B and iD Mobile, to colleagues in IT, Procurement and Finance. Partnering with external counsel when needed, you'll make sure legal risk is managed and projects land well. You'll also build strong working relationships with senior leaders, helping them navigate commercial decisions with confidence.

Legal Counsel

As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Give clear, commercially focused legal advice on UK and Ireland matters, covering contracts, competition, IP and data protection including AI.
  • Review, draft and negotiate contracts at all levels, taking ownership of projects from start to finish and keeping the right people in the loop.
  • Play an active role in the Currys negotiating team, advising on strategy, structure and legal risk across a range of deals.
  • Handle contentious matters and dispute discussions, as well as day-to-day contract management questions as they come up.
  • Support the business through regulatory change, developing good practice and advising teams on what's coming and why it matters.
  • Run training sessions for colleagues across LGR and the wider business on contractual and legal issues.
  • Support process improvements within the department, finding smarter ways to deliver great legal advice at pace.

You will need:

  • Qualified solicitor with a minimum of three years’ post-qualification experience in commercial law, ideally in IT, retail or mobile sectors
  • A solution-focused mindset that balances legal rigour with real-world commercial thinking.
  • Confidence managing multiple projects at once without dropping the ball on quality or deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills that make complex legal concepts clear and easy to act on.
  • A talent for building trusted relationships with internal teams and senior stakeholders across the business.
  • The ability to work with both autonomy and as part of a wider team, adapting to what each situation needs.
  • Experience working with AI tools, or a genuine curiosity to explore how they can make legal work smarter.
