Positioned within the commercial team, you will be right in the centre of a fast paced team, working hand in hand with the Senior Buyer, building strong relationships with one of our biggest suppliers and working closely with all other functions across the Currys business to build, plan and execute multiple customer, commercial & marketing initiatives to ensure we offer a best in class Dyson proposition for our Currys customers.

 

This exciting role within the commercial team reports to the Senior Buyer; you will be accountable for supporting the Senior Buyer to develop our Dyson customer proposition and delivering the initiatives to improve it further. The role is a hybrid of buying and go to market planning.

 

You will need to have great relationship building skills, working closely with the Commercial buying team, Central Planning, Brand and Marketing team, Online team, Services Team and Retail operations and use your influencing skills to secure support to drive the business forward.  

 

Commercial acumen is a must as you will be required to support our analysis of trading performance, providing recommendations of actions to drive our business. Our ideal candidate will be organised and self-motivated in order to prioritise their work whilst having strong attention to detail to ensure everything is right first time.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage the supplier terms ensuring all agreed initiatives are tracked & delivered on time to unlock maximum investment from supplier
  • Build close relationships with Dyson teams to agree annual marketing & initiative plan and where appropriate, producing marketing plans to secure & justify supplier advertising and promotional terms monies
  • Responsible for landing all major Dyson initiatives, including major new product launches, new merchandising solutions and changes to the customer journey online and in-store, liaising with relevant supporting departments to deliver right first time
  • Agree, brief & sign off all marketing activity for Dyson including TV deals, home page nominations, deal lists, CRM requirements, social, overarching promotions e.g. trade in
  • Responsible for agreeing and delivering all Dyson Colleague initiative including demonstration in store and colleague training
  • Negotiating promotional funding support to drive sales while maintaining margin in line with financial objectives. Responsible for loading promotional plans into internal planning systems
  • Work with the customer insight team to ensure the squad adequately understands the category landscape, including customers, competitors, trends, financial performance, range performance, threats and opportunities, to support the development of the annual category strategy 
  • Review an analyse CPI (Competitive Price Index) and prepare analysis & recommendations of growth opportunities to the Senior Buyer
  • Bringing appropriate analytics and insight from the online, store and customer team to support decision making related to day-to-day trading, events and promotions and range changes
  • Using insight, work with the Buyer, planner, services and credit representatives to define annually the Dyson ‘proposition’ – the best combination of range, price, availability, services and credit to maximise customer satisfaction, competitiveness and financial return
  • Work with channel representatives and brand & marketing to define the right shopping journey in all channels, including training and engagement of customer facing colleagues in the category selling journey

 

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Negotiation skills and ability to manage all supplier partnerships
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to manage several different stakeholders, at all levels, to deliver plans
  • Excellent inter-personal, communication & presentation skills
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills to review data and provide recommendations/actions plans to drive sales, profit and cash 
  • Good working knowledge of SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Word and PowerPoint as well as MS Office workflow tools 
  • Customer champion with excellent commercial awareness and understanding of customer needs
  • Buying/Marketing Experience
  • Experience creating customer propositions, and delivering promotion or marketing campaigns
  • Experience of both the Electricals market and products
