As a Delivery Manager in Technology, you will be responsible for delivering high-value initiatives across all areas of technology. You will work in collaboration with the business to understand their needs, drive results and deliver excellence. You will manage risks, issues and budget, and ensure that initiatives are delivered to schedule, budget, scope, and the highest quality standards. You will also work in a collaborative way with multiple third parties and matrix teams, and foster a culture of innovation, agility, and continuous improvement.

 

We’re looking for someone to work alongside our Digital and Online teams to deliver projects and backlog items which drive customer and colleague benefit. We’re looking for someone with experience in landing changes to customer facing Ecommerce Onlin platforms using both agile and waterfall delivery within the Retail industry.

 

Role overview:

  • Takes responsibility for the management of and successful execution of high-value Tech and Transformation initiatives that span across multiple business units and areas typically up to £1m in delivery cost.
  • Work in collaboration with initiative sponsors and key stakeholders within the business to ensure shared ownership for the delivery of outcome
  • Lead cross-functional change into the organisation through the application of appropriate project, programme and agile delivery practices.
  • Partner closely with Product Managers, Architecture and Engineering Leads to align the delivery plan with the product roadmap and priorities, and the technical strategy
  • Own stakeholder relationships and engage the business more broadly with change communications 
  • Manage high performing delivery teams, with good knowledge management, who work in collaboration with the business 
  • Manage the performance of the internal and external suppliers 
  • Establish and sustain an effective governance framework to ensure the appropriate level of oversight and control is in place across your initiatives 
  • Take ownership for key deliverables across the delivery lifecycle and apply appropriate methodologies to support the achievement of wider aims and objectives:
        - Own and maintain the comprehensive plan, risk & issue logs using PMO delivery tool Planview  
        - Driving momentum of change and proactively identifying and resolving issues and impediments Manage and communicate interdependencies clearly  
        - Own and maintain the initiative budget and forecast 
        - Update and maintain the governance and portfolio level reporting of your initiatives 
        - Manage schedule and resource dependencies, supporting teams to maintain predictable delivery cadence
  • Co-ordinate the definition and delivery of detailed business requirements through collaboration with the business, IT and other 3rd parties
  • Ensure that realistic and accurate estimates of costs, timescales, quality and resource requirements are agreed and proactively manage any deviations through to initiative closure (utilising formal change control and impact assessments where required)

 

Required Experience: 

  • 3+ yrs project or programme management
  • Experience of delivery in large complex organisations, such as FTSE 250 companies or top tier professional services
  • Strong commerce / Retail implementation experience beneficial
  • Knowledge and experience of relevant project management methodologies, development life cycles e.g. Waterfall, Agile and Continuous Improvement.
  • Knowledge and experience of relevant project management tools, including Jira and Confluence
  • Expert knowledge of financial forecasting and budget management and control.
  • Experience implementing projects utilising common enterprise-scale technology platforms e.g Salesforce Cloud Commerce, Mulesoft,
  • Experience in managing 3rd party vendors and working with outsource and offshore partners
  • Proven ability to communicate to stakeholders at the appropriate level and build effective working relationships (will often need distil complex technical information into a concise summary for a non-technical audience to manage issues and risk). 
  • High level of resilience and extremely strong organisational skills required to manage multiple teams (some offshore and in different time zones) 
  • Willing to be flexible to meet tight deadlines. May (on rare occasion) require commitment to work beyond contracted hours at times of urgency 
  • Dedicated and motivated individual with drive to succeed and deliver results 
  • Self-starter willing to hit the ground running 
  • Effective influencer and negotiator, able to operate well in both structured and unstructured environments.
