This role will be positioned within the commercial team, in appliances where you will be centred in a fast-paced team. Our ambition in appliances is to create more unique reasons for customers to shop with Currys and this new role is central to that ambition.
The Assistant Buyer is responsible for supporting the Senior buyer to create and develop a new OEM brand to launch across the appliances categories. They will brief and create a new range of OEM Small Kitchen appliances which will enhance both our unique point of difference in the market & enhanced our commercial margin.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting the Senior Buyer on the OEM project to create a new OEM Brand. Tracking and chasing up actions from project board meetings
- Create and develop a new OEM brand – working closely with brand teams and customer insight teams – the Assistant Buyer may be required to write briefs to support the customer insight team
- Source a new range of OEM appliances starting with small kitchen appliances, ensuring all products are set up accurately
- Responsible for briefing all new OEM collateral is best in class including instore tickets, online product pages, videos etc
- Responsible for maintaining the OEM promotional plans and sharing and agreeing promotional plans with the SKA team, uploading promotional plans to sigma to ensure promotions go live on time
- Review sales performance daily, weekly, monthly and suggest & agree actions to improve performance
- Working with the merchandising team to ensure forecasts are reviewed to maintain optimum levels of stock health & availability
- Collaborating with the Go to Market and categories teams, to brief all marketing briefs for the OEM products
- Review pricing vs market to ensure our OEM range is competitive vs market
You will need:
- Experience working as an Assistant Buyer withing FMCG/Fashion or Hard Goods fast paced retailer
- Good numerical and analytical skills to review data and provide recommendations/actions plans to drive sales, profit and cash
- Good planning, organisational and multitasking skills
- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills
- Customer champion with excellent commercial awareness and understanding of customer needs
- Good working knowledge of SharePoint, Teams, Excel, Word and PowerPoint as well as MS Office workflow tools
- Experience of working to deadlines and managing critical paths
- Good presentation and speaking skills
