The Category Manager for Domestic Appliances (DA) will have full autonomy for driving the commercial performance of their respected business areas through delivery of market leading ranging, pricing and product management. You'll be responsible for the strategic direction of your business function along with implementing and executing a number of growth initiatives to ensure Currys is no1 in the DA space.
You'll help define the path for the business - aligning across multiple functions including Services, Marketing, Finance, Retail, HR and Supply Chain. The role will be expected to lead commercial discussions through the Commercial Team and beyond, as well as building relationships with new suppliers. You will also work closely with counterparts in the UK to ensure that the Irish business has the best stock management, supplier propositions and commercial tools.
Role overview:
As part of this role, you’ll be responsible for:
• Defining and driving the category strategy across all respective channels under the remit of Domestic Appliances. Persistently seek new opportunities within the category from product to price to strategic advantage.
• Autonomy for the Domestic Appliances commercial plan and achieving the yearly sales and margin budget lines.
• Building a Major Domestic Appliances & Small Domestic Appliances strategy to develop our position within new products, identify the right brands to work with and advance the trading approach for each segment.
• Construction and execution of the Currys promotional roadmap.
• Building strong relationships with the Currys UK central teams to ensure Ireland is incorporated in agreed supplier funded propositions, stock management is in line with sales forecasts and leverage shared supplier relationships to better benefit Currys Ireland growth ambition.
• Constructing a supplier/partner strategy and liaise with wider stakeholder network across sales channels and marketing. Lead on our range change process and look to support stores channel with optimal product range.
• Aligning category with sales channels with product based on purchase trends and projected volume uplift. Assist Currys with being first to market on product launches and new tech.
• Leading an analytical data driven approach to competitor monitoring and promotional activities. Ambition to drive Currys and maintain Currys as No1 in DA segment in Ireland.
• Driving agility in adapting to ever changing trading conditions. Implement full pricing competitive model with contingency allowance.
• Supporting stores with local initiatives and instore executions. Fluency with stores operations model and how commercial function fits into this. This role will entail a high level of direct engagement with our stores leadership team
You will need:
• Experience in creating and launching new product categories & propositions (including sourcing & supplier on boarding) preferable.
• Strategic pricing and positioning experience essential
• Managing supplier partnerships is a plus
• Cross collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders
• Entrepreneurial by nature
