A newly created position has been created to maximise the growth opportunity which exists to bring new Shark Ninja’s new product development to market and ensure that Currys are at the forefront of their innovation.  

 

Positioned within the commercial team, you will be right in the centre of a fast paced team, working hand in hand with the senior buyer, harnessing a strong relationship with our biggest SDA supplier and working closely with all other functions across the Currys business to build, plan and execute the customer and commercial strategy and develop our business for future growth. 
 
This exciting role within the commercial team reports to the Head of Category; you will be accountable for supporting the head of category develop the blueprint for SharkNinja.  Combining customer and competitor insight along with financial imperatives to ensure the category squad develops a strategy to both maximise CSAT and EBIT. The role will act as a lynchpin between all functional representatives in the squad and beyond, pulling together annual, quarterly and in-season initiatives and activities to maximise performance. You will also arm the category buyer to negotiate adequate supplier funding support to enable market leading instore executions and above the line campaigns.  
 
You will need to have great relationship building skills, working closely with the Commercial buying team, Central Planning, Brand and Marketing team, Online team, Services Team and Retail operations and use your influencing skills to secure support to drive the business forward.

 
Commercial acumen is a must as you will be required to support our analysis of trading performance, providing recommendations of actions to drive our business. Our ideal candidate will be organised and self-motivated in order to prioritise their work whilst having strong attention to detail to ensure everything is right first time. 

 

Role overview:

 

As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Work closely with SharkNinja to understand their NPD roadmap and develop the right go to market approach to capitalise on their launches
  • Supporting their biggest launches with instore activations, colleague training and engagement as well as above the line activity to drive customers to Currys as the No.1. retailer of choice for their new innovation
  • Work with the customer insight team to ensure the squad adequately understands the category landscape, including customers, competitors, trends, financial performance, range performance, threats and opportunities, to support the development of the annual category strategy 
  • Create the blueprint for the annual category strategy, helping define the guiderails for: target KPIs (CSAT, share, EBIT, stock), customer shopping journey, category proposition and the ‘go to market’ plan 
  • Using insight, work with the buyer, planner, services and credit representatives to define annually the category ‘proposition’ – the best combination of range, price, availability, services and credit to maximise customer satisfaction, competitiveness and financial return 
  • Using insight, work with channel representatives and brand & marketing to define the right shopping journey in all channels, including training and engagement of customer facing colleagues in the category selling journey 
  • Work with the central planning and brand & marketing function to develop in line with the annual events calendar the ‘Go to market’ strategy and plan for the category 
  • Support the squad in landing all major initiatives and liaising with relevant supporting departments to deliver right first time
  • Champion delivering great customer experiences in all channels, challenging both the category team and supporting functions to improve the experience for customers 
  • Bring appropriate analytics and insight from the online and customer team to support decision making related to day to day trading, events and promotions and range changes to ensure the category are making relevant data driven decisions and plans 
  • Work with the Senior E-commerce Manager to understand category KPI dashboard and reporting metrics ensuring timely and accurate communication of performance vs targets
  • Co-ordinate responses to major marketing briefs across the category in appropriate templates
  • Be the go-to person from all parts of the business to coordinate the customer experience activities that need to be developed
  • Work with peer groups to lead cross-functional delivery for all things related to customer journey for your Head of Category


You will need:

  • Strong influencing skills and ability to manage several different stakeholders, at all levels 
  • Excellent numerical and analytical skills to review data and provide recommendations/actions plans to drive sales, profit and cash
  • Good planning, organisational and multitasking skills 
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, capable of presenting to team forums as well as working cross functionally to achieve the desired results 
  • Detail-oriented problem-solving skills 
  • Coordinate teams and train and identify training requirements
