The Category Manager sits in the Multiplay Team and incorporates both connectivity responsibilities which manages the end-to-end relationships with leading UK fixed Broadband providers to maximise the profitability of our commercial agreements and trading responsibilities - ensuring Currys can deliver competitive propositions to market, whilst driving differentiation and maximising customer satisfaction.

 

There is a wide integration with many areas of the business to achieve these aims, such as retail, operations, finance, and marketing. The role is broad-ranging and fast-moving – supporting development of the long-term partner strategy and commercial deal negotiation right through to day-to-day trading performance.

Role overview:

You will:
•    Be responsible for the day-to-day management of all aspects of one or more partner relationships providing the drive, momentum and energy to develop and grow these relationships.
•    Build functional and collaborative working relationships with partner counterparts at multiple levels of seniority.
•    Own both the development of and driving of an annual Joint Business Plan with Multiplay partner(s) ensuring that business strategic objectives are prioritised within this.
•    Manage the overall performance status vs. KPIs, ensuring plans are in place to deliver against these, managing the progress of these plans and ensuring they are delivered to the desired outcomes.
•    Lead negotiations on specific items and the outcomes delivered.
•    Manage and ensure achievement of additional revenue support opportunities, including identifying opportunities for new business
•    In collaboration with the strategic direction set by the Multiplay SLT, input into the build and management of the category development plan working in collaboration with related functions across the business
•    Own the pipeline for future development with networks (Gigabit plus etc) and new revenue streams across Currys (eg Upgrades)

•    Define and support the execution of the category plan for Multiplay to achieve our weekly targets

•    Create, execute and monitor weekly trading rhythms including analysis of sales and margin data to deliver the best range & proposition for our consumers whilst delivering profit objectives

•    Define and contribute towards a clear and visible proposition and promotional roadmap encompassing store and online executions and marketing initiatives 

•    Govern the briefing and sign off process for marketing and retail communication materials
•    Identify and support the category efforts to maximise channel profit generation through new innovative initiatives and developing the customer funnel to ensure maximum connections and optimal CGM.

 

You will need:
•    To be educated to a Degree level or equivalent
•    Strong analytical and numerical skills
•    Demonstrable negotiation and relationship management skills
•    Commercial acumen and financial awareness 
•    Proven trading experience with management of teams to deliver results
•    The capability to influence senior stakeholders and external partners with compelling written and oral communications
•    Experience of telco network commercial models would also be beneficial
