Salary – Competitive plus up to 20% bonus

We’re looking for an experienced and passionate General Manager to oversee our Leeds Home Delivery Centre, where people, performance, and customer satisfaction come first.

 

As General Manager, you’ll be the driving force behind the success of our Leeds site. You’ll lead from the front—empowering your team, optimising operations, and ensuring we deliver an exceptional service to our customers, every time.

Role overview:

As part of this role, you’ll be responsible for:  

 

  • Operational Leadership: Overseeing day-to-day site performance, ensuring targets are met and exceeded.
  • Team Empowerment: Coaching and developing your Operations Managers, who in turn lead First Line Managers and teams across delivery, gas, specialist services, warehouse, and support functions.
  • Partner Collaboration: Building strong relationships with delivery and agency partners to ensure seamless service.
  • Change Champion: Leading and supporting change initiatives, including our Levelling Up programmes.
  • Compliance & Safety: Ensuring full adherence to Health & Safety regulations and company policies.
  • Culture Builder: Fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-performance culture where success is celebrated.

 

You will need:

 

  • Proven leadership experience in a fast-moving distribution or customer-focused delivery environment.
  • Strong people management and coaching skills with a passion for developing others.
  • A track record of managing budgets and driving cost-effective operations.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing abilities at all levels.
  • A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement. 

 

It would be great if you had:

 

  • Transport Manager Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) – showcasing your expertise in transport operations and compliance.
  • Background in Transport Management – with a solid understanding of logistics, routing, and fleet performance.
  • Health & Safety Qualification – such as IOSH, demonstrating your commitment to maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Experience Managing 2-Person Delivery Teams – ideally in a high-volume, customer-focused setting.
