Senior Manager Credit Portfolio Optimisation

Permanent Role

Hybrid - London Waterloo

This role will lead the P&L optimisation of Currys' embedded credit portfolio, ensuring we strike the right balance between lending growth and profitability. You will be the business expert on the risk vs. reward trade-offs that underpin credit decisions – spanning accept rate, pricing, product mix, credit risk, and supplier funding. Your work will guide how we structure credit offers, target customer groups, shape pricing and subsidy strategies, and respond to macroeconomic variables.
You will develop a strong partnership with the wider business and our lending partner to ensure credit is fully optimized in the context of the wider business strategy.

You will build the analytical engine and storytelling frameworks that help us understand performance, drive better decisions, and plan with confidence.

•    Work with lending partner to ensure full alignment behind segmentation

Support Pricing, Supplier Funding, and Portfolio Strategy Decisions
•    Provide robust analysis to support Quarterly Business Reviews, helping shape:
o    APR and promotional pricing strategies
o    Supplier funding asks and negotiations
o    Portfolio-level decisions around credit limit increases, engagement strategies, and interest-bearing mix
•    Evaluate the trade-offs between commercial growth and profitability at every stage of the credit journey

Portfolio Storytelling and Monthly Insight Process
•    Build and embed a monthly credit portfolio pack that:
o    Tracks optimisation against growth and profitability goals

•    Make the trade-offs visible and understandable for the wider business

Planning, Forecasting & Business Case Support

•    Lead development of a credit portfolio forecast that reflects:
o    Lending growth
o    Revenue generation (interest, fees, subsidy)
o    Credit losses and risk exposure
o    Macro drivers like interest rates or inflation
•    Feed your forecasting and insight into Finance-led budgets and support robust, data-led decision-making across all credit-related business cases.

Required Skills & Experience:
•    Proven track record in credit portfolio management, analytics, commercial finance or pricing.
•    Expertise in credit risk or embedded finance and understanding of how credit pricing, risk appetite, and promotions drive performance.
•    Strategic mindset with strong attention to detail — able to zoom out to business trade-offs and zoom in on modelling accuracy.
•    Strong communication and storytelling skills – able to influence decisions and simplify complexity.
•    Proficiency in Excel, SQL, Power BI/Tableau (SAS or similar a bonus).
